About the founders:

Despite living only three roads apart and having mutual friends, Nathan first met Flo in 2016 when she served him a San Miguel at a bar she was working at one typical student night in Bournemouth. A few days later at university, Flo’s lecturer was offering £10 to the student who could correctly explain the definition of 'Studium' and 'Punctum'. Being her favourite theory in photography to study, Flo’s hand shot straight up and she bagged herself the tenner which she used to take Nathan out for a drink on their first official date at Aruba Bar, the rest is history.

Three years on they are each other’s yin and yang. Whilst studying at university, they would always assist each other with their shoots and collaborated in many joint projects. They found that they provided the strength to each other’s weakness so that each of their projects became more refined. Flo’s skill set lies in the visual components whereas Nathan’s is much more technical.

After graduation, they travelled to Asia together where the idea for Natcho first sparked. Now on their biggest journey yet, they have decided to start-up a production company to support independent companies and individuals expand their business reach. With their collaborative experience in photography, design, styling, videography, lighting, sound and postproduction, they are extremely passionate about the commercial sector and want to support other creatives, all while producing the best quality work for their clients.

You have both assisted each other in creative projects before, what inspired you to start a production company?

Flo: We have always worked well together on both projects at university and since we began freelancing so we always had the idea in our heads about creating a business. I love having the creative freedom of performing multiple creative roles. I have done several internships, all within a slightly different field, as I wanted to find the particular role that suited me, but instead found that it’s being able to do a variety of roles that excites me and that excitement pushes me to thrive at each one. When I was looking for jobs after graduating, I found that each one seemed so pigeonholed and I struggled to be motivated by any of them. Natcho has allowed me to have the creative diversity which both excites and motivates me.

Nathan: I have always said how I never want to be a small cog in a big machine. Going into an office and wondering if what you’re doing is making an impact is a really un-motivating thought for me. Working for myself was something I knew from the start I wanted to achieve. We both want to create a fun working environment that offers a real personal and hands-on approach with our clients. We strongly believe that if you enjoy what you do, then your passion and enthusiasm translates through your work.

What does Natcho offer?

Natcho creates content to help promote businesses and boost engagement, through both photography and film. We use industry-standard equipment and apply our advanced knowledge to produce high-quality work. Being a small group of creatives allows us to get to know our clients much better and have a more personal approach to the work.

Who is Natcho for?

Our target clientele is those within the commercial sector. We mainly focus on advertising and fashion but also create promotional work for live events.

How do your creative backgrounds help in the creation of Natcho?

Flo: We both have very different work experience that ties in perfectly with each other. My experience covers photography, design and styling whilst Nathan’s is videography, lighting and sound.

Nathan: My extensive knowledge and experience from being a light and sound technician allow me to offer all the technical ability that Natcho requires alongside my ten years of camera operating, whilst Flo’s broad range of internships, experience and creativity allow her to offer all the visual direction.

How did you come up with the name Natcho?

The name Natcho is a combination of our names. ‘Nat’ is from Nathan the ‘O’ is from Flo and the ‘Ch’ is from the start of both our surnames. When we came up with it, we felt it had such a great opportunity to create unique branding so just rolled with it. As you can see on our website, we’ve tried to incorporate the play on the word Natcho throughout by making it a running theme.

Where do you hope to see Natcho in the future?

In the future, we aim to keep improving our content each day and making a significant impact within the industry. We like the idea of hiring other creatives down the line, so we can have multiple people engaging and bouncing ideas off one another.

Who or what inspires you the most in the creative industry?

Flo: I have always been inspired by Pop Art. My dad is a graphic designer and I have grown up with having pop art and comic books around the house. I feel that throughout all my art and design there is a slight connection to the style which you may be able to see through our branding. However, when producing photographic work for clients I always strive to be versatile and achieve the style that they have asked for.

Nathan: I’ve always admired the work of the cinematographer Philip Bloom and thought of him as inspiration; however, I feel if you look too much at others work too much you can end up copying unintentionally. I’m always teaching myself new techniques to generate my own style.
